In the Sumire Room our 4 year Bachelor qulaified teachers offer a play based program that is fun and educational.

For many, this is the year before going to school. Our goal is to provide a safe, fun, nurturing environment that will allow the children to build on skill and capabilities. We create achievable challenges for success and provide them with a positive environment to continue to develop their self esteem and confidence skills. Numeracy, language and literacy, STEAM, Music and Environmental concepts are all inclusive in our learning and practices on a daily basis.

We develop our program primarily through observing children's interest, identifying strengths capabilities as well as supporting their ongoing needs. Learning experiences may range from whole group to small group and/or individual learning times.

Educators use the QKLG (Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines) and EYLF (Early Years Learning Framework) to plan and impletement the program. Our aim is to help the children to become creative thinkers and lovers of learning as they explore various experiences. We monitor children's progress throughout the year through a variety of observational practices.

Our program endeavours to teach children about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People. Using the Yumgumbeh language, the tradtional spoken language of the Kombumerri People is a part of every day learnings. We also explore their culture through music, books, experiences and also having visitors to the centre.
